Betting Odds

It’s also important to note that there are three main types of betting odds. There are fractional (British) odds, decimal (European) odds, and money line (American) odds. Odds are based on the probability of an outcome happening in sport. Take a look at some of the common examples below.

How to bet

Once you’ve visited our sports page and found an event you like and got your background knowledge - you’re ready to make your selection(s).

There are lots of different betting types, which you can read more about below, but there are three key things to consider:

  1. Reviewing the odds and available bets well before placing a bet.
  2. Make your choice by selecting the market you like the look of.
  3. Enter your stake and review the market in your bet slip to ensure you’re happy with it and the odds before confirming by clicking ‘Confirm X Bet’. This can be either a Single or Multiple (Accumulator or Parlay). Or if you’re betting on Basketball or American Football, you can place Teaser bets.

Once that’s all done, you can sit back and keep up to date with what’s happening to see if you win or not! Any bets placed or open bets on your account can be tracked through the ‘My Bets’ section on your account.

For a full breakdown of all our sports betting rules, with specifics about each sport, you can click here.

And with multi-view, you can keep a close eye on multiple matches at the same time if you have multiple bets you want to track! You're also able to view results on the tab next to ‘Matches’ and ‘Futures’ when viewing odds for a specific event or tournament.

Types of sports markets to bet on

Betting Type

Description

Money Line

Betting on a team event for either side to win the game, or for it to end in a draw.

Outright Betting

Betting on the result of a whole tournament instead of a single game. For example: betting on Manchester City to win the Champions League.

Handicap

A team gets a virtual advantage and you bet on which team would win given the added handicap. The reason for this is to level out the odds when one team is a heavy favourite.

Over/Under betting

Betting on if a certain event is to happen over or under a specific total. The most common over/under bet is on the number of goals or points scored.

Half-time/Full-time betting

Betting on both the result at half-time and the full-time result. Keep in mind that the second part of the bet is the full-time bet, not only the goals scored in the second half. Both of the predictions have to be correct to win the bet.

Double Chance Betting

Betting on two outcomes in the full-time Result betting type. You can back the home team to win or draw (1X), draw or lose (X2) and even win or lose (12). A good way to start betting on soccer as it covers two outcomes of the match, thus reducing the chances of losing the bet. However, the odds will decrease because the bet covers two outcomes, rather than one.

Multiple (Accumulator or Parlays)

A bet on two or more selections, all of which must win to gain a return. Multiples can contain a maximum of 10 markets. They can also be called parlays or accumulators, and the number of selections they contain denotes the number of selections; thus you can have a fourfold, fivefold or sixfold accumulator/parlay.

Each-Way

A combination of win and place bets of equal size. Each-way bets may be placed on a single event or on two or more selections in a multiple bet. Each-way multiple bets are settled on a win-to-win and place-to-place basis.

In-Play

Bets on some of the above markets that are placed on the action while it is ongoing. These markets are subject to availability based on what is happening during an event but can be a fun way to get involved if you don’t get to place a bet before an event starts, or if you just fancy another one!

Point Spread

Rather than betting on the final result, you are betting on a team or individual's margin of victory. A favourite is designated by a minus symbol, while a plus symbol defines an underdog. For example, if a team is priced at -7.5, they must win by more than 7.5 points.

Prop Bets

A proposition or a prop bet is a bet that is not directly tied to the final result or score of an event. The most common type of prop bets are player props and game props. A player prop is a bet on a player’s performance, such as how many passing yards a quarterback has in American Football or if a basketball player has a triple-double. A game prop is a bet on something to happen in a game, such as the first team to score 20 points or which team will score first.
